We talk about this at the start of the cleaning page as well. Sometimes the “problems” that we find in gutter systems are literally direct consequences of a lack of maintenance. What we don’t want is for you to think that replacement of your current gutter systems is your only option. Sometimes the best option is to actually go ahead and clean your gutters thoroughly. There is a process that we usually go through when we are dealing with clogged gutter issues. We want to go over that process with you so that you can have a better idea of what to expect from us in these instances.

Are Clogged Gutters The Problem?
Many of the problems that we are called in to solve with gutters at one point steam from a gutter that was clogged and then subsequently broke. It’s rather unusual to see a gutter just sort of break out of the blue. The only instances where this happens is when we are dealing with very old materials. Again, for the most part, we do have to say that clogged gutters are essentially the starting point for a lot of the other major problems. Hence the importance of knowing how to deal with these issues.
Finding The Source Of The Issue
When people report to us that their gutters are broken the actual break doesn’t necessarily occur right on the spot that the clogging started. Instead, debris can be coming in at another point in the gutter line and start piling up until it essentially reaches that breaking point. Therefore, for us, it’s not only important to be able to unclog the gutters and fix up any potential breaks, but also be able to spot the source of the problem and take steps to remedy it!
Repair or Replacement What’s The Best Option?
This is really going to depend on the extent of the damage. In many cases, we are just going to be able to free up the gutter and things are going to be fine. What you may need to do in those cases is just make sure that the gutters are cleaned regularly so you won’t have to be dealing with these issues again. When there is major damage particularly in different parts of the line then it could be a good idea to just take the whole gutter out and put in a new one. Give us a call so that we can stop by and assess your situation and layout the different options that you could have.
Trim Your Trees & Plants
This idea is pretty simple, at the end of the day to clog you something to clog with. In gutters, the main thing that causes clogging are leaves, dirt and all of the things that can essentially end up on your roof one way or another. A great way to try and prevent this from happening is by making sure that your trees and plants are always neatly trimmed.
